Description

Local resident Patricia Kelly will recount the story of the extraordinary life in photography of her grandfather, Ernest Brooks. He rose from modest beginnings to photograph the British upper classes and then to hold the coveted position of court photographer to the British Royal Family in the early part of the 20th century. He was the first official war photographer to be appointed during the First World War. His photographs are held in the archives of the Imperial War Museum in London and many other major museums. Over his lifetime, he travelled the world and took thousands of historically important photos, of which Patricia will show a selection.
